The Innovative Approach:  HEALTHY BACKS & BODIES™

Founded upon a fierce determination to help people live fuller, healthier, happier lives through the prevention of pain and injury, HB&B™ Programs have been reducing pain and injury across North America since 2001. Passionately developed and led by Sports-Orthopedic Physical Therapist and Back Health Specialist Tanya Snowden, HEALTHY BACKS & BODIES™  reaches wide to all types of participants. Fueled by a mission to empower corporations and institutions to take action in re-training the people underneath the instructions of body mechanics and ergonomic positioning, HB&B™ Programs are designed to get to the C∙O∙R∙E™ of the issue — the vast majority of our bodies have forgotten how to move correctly. It’s quite simple to re-train them! People just need to know what to do, how to do it, and be provided with a compelling reason to take action — coupled with tips, tools, actions, & exercises.

Coming from a sports-orthopedic perspective and applying advanced orthopedic techniques, our programs take participants back to the Fundamentals of safe, healthy, proper, and efficient body movement and positioning. We talk their talk and instill simple measures; for sustainable results, this needs to occur prior to training the specific actions of body mechanics - lifting, reaching, transferring, pushing - and prior to sitting at an ergonomically correct station designed to ‘fix’ a body’s problems. We apply expert orthopedic strategies to not only prevent injury, but also to enhance the body’s ability to resist and recover from injury and pain.

Highly experiential, interactive, evidence-based, hard-hitting, and fun, our programs change people’s lives and provide sustainable injury resilience.

Your Back’s Best Friend:  Meet Tanya

Tanya (Weiker) Snowden is the HEALTHY BACKS & BODIES™ Program Creator, Master Instructor, Safety Consultant, and Back Health Specialist.  She is a Sports-Orthopedic Physical Therapist, Certified Ergonomics Assessment Specialist (CEAS), Advanced Office Ergonomics Assessment Specialist (AOEAS), Remote Ergonomics Assessment Specialist (REAS), JFB-MFR Clinician, and a patented inventor of the TheraBand® CLX, as well as a published author.

‘If only I had known this sooner…’

During her time as an Orthopedic SportsHealth Spine Specialist at The Cleveland Clinic, it was this sentiment, frequently shared with Tanya by her ‘back’ patients as she taught them how to re-train and re-store proper body positions and the underlying biomechanics innate to safe, healthy, efficient movement, that eventually catapulted her out into the injury prevention training arena. Knowing that much of this pain & dysfunction, and many of these injuries, were preventable if only people knew how to inhabit their bodies and move them correctly, Tanya created HEALTHY BACKS & BODIES™ to reach a larger audience and to reach them ahead of time.

Her programs are the culmination of 25 years of hands-on treating, clinical insight, clinical and corporate teaching, and her intense drive to empower people and corporations to take action before the pain and dysfunction show themselves. She teaches and consults with the conviction and passion that can only come from an authentic love for the subject matter and from one who lives it every day.
